When is it safe to flip your child's car seat from the rear-facing position to forward-facing?

The NHTSA recommends waiting as long as possible to switch to a front-facing seat. "Your child should remain in a rear-facing car seat until he or she reaches the top height or weight limit allowed by your car seat's manufacturer," says the agency's official website.

Unfortunately for Bay Area parents, that age is typically three years old. Most rear-facing car seats are simply not designed to accommodate children beyond their toddler years -- and that's a problem.

You may not have noticed, but things have been abnormally dry around the Bay Area recently. Really -- according to the U.S. Drought Monitor, Santa Rosa is categorized as "D0: Abnormally Dry" as of October 2016. That's a fair bit better than our neighbors to the south, still caught up in the highest severity of drought, D4.

On May 18th, Volvo announced the debut of two new concept vehicles riding atop its new Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform. Sharing a platform like this will make the implementation Volvo’s small car strategy much easier. The CMA technology was specially designed for smaller cars, and it has opened up possibilities for the company’s designers and engineers to explore new directions and bold, innovative design, which will certainly help set them apart in the sometimes-crowded small car market. The modern and marvelous XC90 is all the rage these days, and the top-spec edition of this stunning SUV is our newest dream car.

The XC90 Excellence is aptly named thanks to a long list of luxurious that are sure to stun. For starters, the Excellence trades the standard 3rd-row split bench for a four passenger configuration that offers rear-seat passengers lots of leg room...

The days of finding your package on your doorstep are over. "Volvo Car Group is introducing a new service with Swedish startup Urb-it that promises to deliver packages ordered online to a car owner’s trunk in under two hours," reports the staff at Fortune. "The delivery service will be initially limited to Volvo owners living in Stockholm, Sweden. It will expand to several European cities this year and to more than 200 cities globally by 2025, Volvo says.

When it comes to luxury wagons, we at Smothers European Volvo like to think we know a thing or two. After all, this segment, in many ways, is the Swedish automaker's bread-and-butter.
