According to Volvo's accident data, the risk of injury in one of their new models is less than 50% of what it was in 2000. By 2020, Volvo's goal is that nobody should be seriously injured or killed driving or riding in a new Volvo.

Those are some big words; how do they plan to deliver?

Intellisafe, Volvo's suite of active safety features, is already making cars so safe they practically drive themselves. Cameras can read road sign information and display speed limits and other warnings to the driver. Driver Alert Control can sense when you are fatigued based on driving patterns. City Safety detects pedestrians and cyclists, and can warn the driver and even stop automatically when it senses an imminent collision.

Volvo is making smarter cars. Spooky smart.

Pretty soon these new vehicles will be driving themselves. In 2017, Volvo is putting 100 autonomous cars on the roads of Gothenburg, Sweden. Real drivers, real traffic. This is the first time something of this scale has been attempted with actual end-users, rather than researchers.

Visit Smothers European Volvo, and let our staff familiarize you with all our latest safety features. We think you'll find them nicely intuitive additions to your regular driving experience.
