Here at Smothers European Volvo, we love hearing exciting news about Volvo, and 2015 has certainly been a great year for that. Two of our favorite highlights are the XC90 being named an IIHS Top Safety Pick+, and the recent news relating to the Drive Me self-driving car initiative.
According to a recent press release, Volvo and Autoliv will join together to monitor 100 autonomous driving (AD) vehicles that will be put to daily use by families in the Swedish city of Gothenburg. Volvo hopes to speed along the worldwide adoption of AD vehicles, stating the technology will result in a range of benefits, from more efficient road usage to less congested streets and better town planning. The project began in 2013, and public use is expected to begin in 2017.
