Shopping for a used vehicle is a great way to save money while still taking home a reliable, like-new car or SUV. If you are new to buying a used car, there are a few important things to understand. First, there are two types of used vehicles we sell at Smothers European. You can choose either a pre-owned model or a certified pre-owned option. While both make for a great used car, there are a few important differences. Continue reading to learn how they compare.
Certified vs. Non-Certified
There are pros and cons to both certified and non-certified used vehicles. Typically, a CPO car, SUV, or truck will have a higher price tag, but this is due to the added steps that go towards classifying that vehicle as certified.
A certified pre-owned model must pass a multi-point inspection covering every part and system of the vehicle. If anything needs to be replaced, it is done with original parts and by a certified-trained technician at our service center.
A CPO model will also come with warranty coverage from the direct automaker. Many drivers opt for CPO models for the added peace of mind and knowing they have lower miles on them and are typically no older than six years old.
A pre-owned model will also receive a full inspection by our service team because we never want to sell a used car or SUV that isn't reliable. But you will not be provided with warranty coverage, and many extensive mechanical repairs are not covered, but the price is usually lower, which is a great way to save on your next used purchase.
Overall, the choice is up to you, and regardless, when you buy a used vehicle from Smothers European, you can count on its dependability. You'll save on the overall price, maintenance, parts, and even insurance premiums.
