While Volvo engineers and designers do a top-notch job when it comes to building the vehicles we know and love in our Santa Rosa, CA showroom, it's often interesting to see how those outside the automaker's official reign add their own touch to a model. Today's example is a Volvo V40 hatchback, where one auto tuner is honoring one of its partners.

Heico Sportiv wanted to help Pirelli, the famed performance tire maker, celebrate two anniversaries. One, to mark the occasion of 50 years of operation in Germany, and the other to look back on 110 years of a tire factory. They came up with the V40 Pirelli Edition, giving the compact hatchback some additional style, with more of a racing flare.

The model is finished with a black, high gloss paint job, with red stripes that run under the car's front end and doors. There are also Pirelli badges throughout, plus new parts like a front spoiler, new quad tailpipes, and a rear skirt that looks like a diffusor. Of course, the vehicle has four 19-inch alloy wheels equipped with 235/35R19 Pirelli P Zero tires.

That twin-tone color continues on the inside, where the steering wheel, gear shift, and handbrake handle are black with red seams. There's also a piano-black speedometer and center console. Under the hood you can find the original Volvo V40 engine, a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine with 148 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque.

All told, it's one put together ride, honoring a giant in the tire industry.

Here at Smothers European Volvo, we invite you to check out some our other dynamic options in the new Volvo lineup, where we'd be happy to answer questions and set up test drives.
