If you've been keeping an eye on the development of the Volvo S60 Polestar concept, you're likely very shocked by this headline. If you haven't heard of it before, allow us to explain why the move to the assembly line is a surprising one for this adrenaline-fueled take on the Volvo S60.
Delivering 508 horsepower and 424 lb.-ft. of torque, the S60 Polestar is an aggressive take on the already stylish Volvo sedan. And while those numbers are impressive, they're certainly not too over the top - after all, no amount of output is too much for the automaker's performance sub-brand. What is excessive, however, is the concept's price tag.
To be more specific, Volvo has never moved the S60 Polestar past the concept phase because it costs roughly $300,000 to produce. Thus far, only a handful of private buyers have stepped forward to special order the S60 Polestar, and no one at Smothers European Volvo honestly expected any more to.
Of course, some automotive industry experts have speculated from day one that a production run of the S60 Polestar would lower its lofty price as more drivers stepped forward to purchase it. If you ask us, it sounds like Volvo is putting this theory to the test.
With that said, Smothers European Volvo invites you to stay tuned. Should we hear anything positive about the S60 Polestar's sales in Australia, we'll be sure to update you here on our blog. After all, it could be a precursor to it joining the new Volvo lineup we offer here at 2881 Corby Ave. in Santa Rosa, CA.
